Chili peppers are a highly nutritious, commonly used vegetable. They not only contain abundant capsaicin but also boast significant amounts of vitamin C and trace elements. Additionally, they are rich in carbohydrates and dietary fiber. After consumption, the body can quickly absorb the nutrients they provide, helping to stimulate appetite, aid digestion, and accelerate blood circulation.
Peppers are a highly nutritious, commonly consumed vegetable. They’re not only rich in capsaicin but also packed with vitamin C, trace elements, carbohydrates, and dietary fiber. After consumption, the body can quickly absorb the nutrients they contain, helping to stimulate appetite, aid digestion, and boost blood circulation. As a result, many farmers have taken up pepper cultivation. However, growing peppers isn’t as simple as it seems—various problems often arise, such as fruit cracking and yellowing leaves. So today, let’s talk about which fertilizers are best for preventing fruit cracking in greenhouse-grown peppers and which fertilizers will make pepper leaves greener.
Causes of fruit cracking in greenhouse peppers:
First, regarding the variety: If you’re growing chili peppers that are prone to fruit cracking, this could be related to the specific characteristics of the pepper variety. Therefore, it’s crucial that we select chili varieties that are resistant to fruit cracking.
Second, uneven moisture levels can cause rapid swelling of pepper fruits and accelerated growth of the flesh, leading to an imbalance between the growth of the peel and the flesh and ultimately resulting in fruit cracking. Therefore, we should strive to regulate water supply carefully, ensuring adequate irrigation followed by drainage when necessary, and supplementing water only when needed.
Third, an imbalanced nutrient supply—excessive nitrogen fertilizer application coupled with insufficient calcium, potassium, and boron—can easily lead to fragile fruit peel cells and poor fruit development, resulting in fruit cracking. All these factors contribute to increased incidence of fruit cracking in peppers, thereby reducing pepper yields and exacerbating the severity of cracking. Therefore, peppers must be fertilized scientifically according to their specific nutrient requirements; indiscriminate fertilization should be avoided.
What fertilizer should be used for cracking peppers in greenhouses?
After the chili peppers have taken root, apply 5–6 kg of high-nitrogen, high-potassium, sulfur-based compound fertilizer per mu by dissolving it in water and applying it through irrigation. Repeat this application 2–3 times, with an interval of 7–10 days between each application. When the chili peppers enter their peak flowering stage, apply 3–5 kg of “Zhuanggu Hu Organic-Inorganic Fully Water-Soluble Fertilizer” per mu via irrigation or drip irrigation. Use this fertilizer every 10–15 days, applying it a total of 3–4 times. This practice will adequately replenish elements such as potassium and calcium, significantly improving both the yield and quality of the chili peppers.
What fertilizer makes chili leaves greener?
Apply the polyenergetic tiger-enhanced herbal nutrient solution (containing amino acid water-soluble fertilizer) diluted with water via foliar spray. This can activate endogenous plant hormones, promote thickening of chili pepper leaves, increase chlorophyll content within the plant, deepen leaf color to a rich green, enhance the effective leaf area coefficient, and thereby boost the plant’s photosynthetic productivity. Additionally, it can improve the chili pepper’s stress resistance under adverse climatic conditions.
The large-scale pepper growers in Huangpi Town, Ningdu, have reaped a bountiful harvest thanks to the Black Tiger ecological cultivation method for their greenhouse peppers. The pepper plants are thriving, yielding high production with excellent quality, leaving the business owner beaming with joy.
